If you are someone who is looking forward to improving your teeth' texture and the overall look of your smile, then Cosmetic Dentistry is the answer for you. Whenever your teeth get stained, discolored, chipped, broken, misaligned, or contain gaps in between, it is high time that you should go for cosmetic dentistry and get back your beautiful smile. The common cosmetic dentistry procedures involve bleaching or teeth whitening, dental veneers, dental bonding, Invisalign braces.
Teeth whitening is the process used to treat teeth for aesthetic purposes, eliminating the effect of staining or discoloration of extrinsic or intrinsic origin. Discoloration of teeth occurs due to heavy use of tobacco, medication[tetracycline], dental materials, aging, poor oral dental hygiene, food/drinks such as coffee or wine. The bleaching technique is classified into internal bleaching performed on non-vital teeth or endodontic-treated teeth and an external bleaching technique performed on vital teeth. There are three types of bleaching procedures, namely whitening clinic, whitening outpatient, whitening mixed.
Porcelain veneers can simply be defined as thin custom made shells with the shape and color of natural teeth used to cover the front part of the teeth. These type of veneers mimic the light reflecting element of natural teeth. Half a millimeter of your enamel is removed after administering the appropriate local anesthetic of your choice. This thickness is reflective of the thickness of the veneer that will be constructed for fitting. The dentist makes a model of the tooth and sends it to the laboratory for construction. Some people feel uneasy going home with trimmed enamel; in such cases, temporary veneers are given to make teeth appear uniform. Whenever multiple teeth are trimmed in preparation for veneer fitting, temporary veneers are not required in such cases. Materials used are Feldspathic porcelain, Leucite reinforced, Aluminous core, Lithium disilicate.
Dental bonding is a procedure in which tooth-colored resin material is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately bonds the material to the tooth to restore a person's smile. Dental bonding is done to repair the cracked or decayed tooth, close the space between teeth, make it look longer, or change its shape.
